PHI KAPPA PSI
“When all was said and done we were founded on loyalty, service, and brotherhood.”
Around 1997, SIUE’s Greek Council made the decision to allow another Fraternity onto campus. Soon afterwards Phi Kappa Psi was chosen to be that Fraternity. Once that decision was made recruiters from Phi Kappa Psi National’s could be seen on the campus actively targeting SIUE’s student leaders. Although hesitant at first, our founding fathers quickly saw the merit in being able to recruit campus leaders that had rejected the idea of the SIUE’s Greek Life but who were willing to change the common misconceptions associated with Greek life. “We could be gentleman and stand up guys. We could have a high GPA and be leaders.” Today we continue to strive to up hold the standards of our Founding Fathers. We are still active in bettering the communities of Southern Illinois and metropolitan St. Louis through various philanthropic events. Currently we are nearing our goal of completing the Phi Psi 500, which entails the completion of 500 service hours. As a Chapter we also involved in many activities outside of the learning environment but we still are able to proudly state that we hold one of the highest GPA’s on campus.
